Jane Austen’s turquoise ring – recreating a historic treasure …

We are extremely proud to have been commissioned by the Jane Austen House Museum to reproduce Jane Austen’s turquoise ring  – complete with the word ‘Chawton’ laser engraved on the inside in Jane’s handwriting.  As the only jeweller in the world with permission to reproduce the piece, Jo has had the once-in-a-lifetime chance to handle the original ring when she was making notes to ensure an authenic reproduction.

Having examined and studied the historic piece, Jo has sourced the finest Arizonian non-veined turquoise and is considered to be as near in type to Jane’s own ring as possible. There is now very little of this turquoise to be found as the Arizona mines have closed – making this a very special edition.

Inscribed inside the band are the hallmarks, along with the word Chawton – copied from Jane’s own hand using manuscripts in the museum collection.

Like the original, the ring is available in 9ct gold, or alternatively in sterling silver and each one is hand-made to order and is exclusively available either here or from the Jane Austen House Museum in nearby Chawton.
